Writing this on my way to work for opening night of this movie so I’m gonna keep this short.
The level of expectation for this movie was astronomical with its first film marking a new generation of creative and wondrous animated films which it inspired. With that said I have to be honest with saying this movie Across the Spiderverse absolutely not only lives up to the expectations of its freshman film but absolutely demolishes it in every single aspect.
The passion for the craft of storytelling, animation, composition, directing, and sound design exude from this film like nectar from the gods. The level of each individual craft that went into making this movie is personally astonishing to me. The idea of reaching this level of excellence in storytelling made me cry in reverence.
My parting words are that this movie may not only be one of the best animated movies I’ve seen or one of the best movies I’ve ever seen but in fact this may have been one of the best stories I’ve ever had the personal pleasure of witnessing and I can’t wait to see the final film which I’m sure will shatter my expectations again.
That being said I think spoiling your first experience with this movie would be a disservice to you and I refuse to do that. If you enjoy the first film please do not hesitate to watch this I personally promise it’ll blow your mind.
